I spotted this great looking example on VWVortex while surfing the other night and IM’d the owner. Turns out it’s for sale in Connecticut for only $6500:
up for sale is my stepdads 242 GT. The car is in great shape. The interior is 10 out of 10, the exterior is an 8. The car is all original and a one owner car. The car was bought by my step dad in 1980. the car had 180k on it but it was mostly driven during the summer time and garaged in the winter.
the car comes with.
ARE mesh wheels, 2 peice.( bbs RS reps) new tires.
Original 5 spoke GT Wheels. all of them just refinished.
OEM GT lip spoiler
Rear bushing SET
400 dollars in tech manuals.
2 extra VDO GT gauge clusters.
2 recaro seats( one had a hole in the backing due to chemical burn
hella ralle 1000 black magic driving lights
anything else i can think of i will post
car also has a full bilstein suspension. We also rebuilt the overdrive last year with the IPD rebuild kit. Car has had synthetic oil changes every 3k. also comes with a nardi steering wheel
located in simsbury CT.
Not only am I super fan of the early 240 series cars (I owned 3 of them), but I dare you to find a cooler 80’s classic for $6500 in this condition! This car has the very rare aeronautical gauge set which I’ve only seen in one other car, the perfect ARE mesh wheels to compliment, and is a 2 door GT model, which is rare in it’s own right. The only 240 series more sought after is the flat nose turbo, and I can’t say I’ve ever seen one for sale.
This is a guest post from Blair on the debatable Mercedes W202 C43 AMG:
AMG, three letters that conjure visions of doing stupid speeds while hunkered behind a Valentine 1 avoiding the local boys in blue. Yes, AMG does really stand for Autobahn fury; quite opposite the way M for BMW means running the curves while wearing skinny driving shoes. No Mercedes AMG is all about luxury, power, and dropping the German hammer with straight ribbons of asphalt in-front of the car.
So this evening when I remembered a model I had lusted after a few years back, then watched an episode of Top Gear where they drove the new CLK63 AMG Black Edition, I had to jump on Craigslist.
And there it was, a C43 AMG - less than 100K on the odometer, silver, and apparently enthusiast owned. Perfect right? Well not exactly - it left me wanting. The styling is dull compared to todays AMG models and even the recently introduced C-class makes this look more comfortable heading to Nordstrom’s for the Half Yearly Sale, it doesn’t look all that aggressive - in fact it looks like something my sister might drive. Gah, and she drives an ML.
So here it is a late model German rocket sedan for under $10K and I have no desire to own it. I am trying so hard to find that one car that gets me to dive head first back into a sporting car and everywhere I look I am left wanting…
Is there help out there for me? Or is this a cool car and I’m just crazy?

My wife sent me this shot from her cel phone of a gray Audi R8 spotted in Corvallis this past weekend:
I briefly considered that in may be the Edmunds long term test car since they were heading up I-5 to Seattle. But I dismissed it as I figured they’d fly right by our little town.
And btw, that’s when you know it’s true love. When your wife stops dead in her tracks to send you an IM with a picture of an R8 when you’re 350 miles from home
Unfortunately, the original thread was locked and a new forum, The Parking Enforcement Forum, has been created to continue the diary of this victim’s tale. Very entertaining! Best of luck to the original poster!
I’ve been off track alot in the last several posts. Lets get back on track with some great available cars for sale, starting with this extra low mile M Coupe:
Beautiful LOW MILEAGE M COUPE, 11,000 miles!!!, Arctic Silver Metallic, One Owner, Clean Carfax, 5 - Speed Manual Transmission, Sunroof, CD Changer, Heated Seats, Side Impact Airbags, S52 Engine with 240 hp, No paintwork or bodywork, Garage kept and meticulously maintained, This is RARE car and especially with so few miles.
Not sure I’d pay $28.5k for any M Coupe without the S54, but it is likely to be as close to a brand new as possible.
This car may have 100k+ miles, but it has extensive history and maintenance, including what the listing describes as the last 2.3-16 motor in MB inventory!
This rare model is in Excellent condition. First owner to 1997 78000 miles from Dallas TX. Second owner and winter stored, was from Greendale WI. Also second owner was a officer in the local Merceedes club and searched the country to find a near perfect 190E 16V before finding this car for sale in Dallas.
He spent close to $20,000 in his ownership to keep it like new and buy many spare NOS maintainence parts that are in boxes included in the sale along with a complete set of factory service manuals. The interior retains the original material and the paint is also as factory applied in 1987 and has been invited to and shown regurlarly ( from 2000 untill 2006 ) at local concours shows as it is still excellent with no inclement weather use.
This car is currently bid at $15k and the buy-it-now was $16k. Good money for this well looked after example and still a remarkable value compared to it’s main competitor, the BMW e30 M3. Considering good examples are moving for $8-12k, this looks like a good buy for a car that will need nothing for years to come.
Offered here for sale is one very rare and collectible 1985 EURO BMW E30 323i with an Alpina / Zender C1 2.3 package, based on BMW’s 323i (E30 body style)
This car was purchased new in Europe Germany at the time, and then imported it to the US. The car was federalized in the USA. The service was done not long ago as well (all fluids being changed, the sparks and wires replaced, new hoses, new exhaust, etc.). It is a Texas car with no rust, shinny paint and it is registered in Texas. German tags all around, never wreck. The car is registered in Texas as a 1985 323i. This Bimmer has new upholstery. Original German front plate. The plastic and moldings are complete and in great shape. I have owned MANY e30 and e30 M3 and I never seen a cleanest and tightest e30 like this car. The interior is extra clean as well as the bay engine. No weird noises, and is really strong and very responsive when driving
This car has the following Alpina or Schnitzer parts installed: 323i-based 6-cylinder engine, limited-slip finned-cover differential, super light weight BBS 7Jx15″ wheels (two pieces) , Alpina wheels emblems, Zender front fiberglass spoiler, Zender rear spoiler, and Schnitzer Side skirts. Front and rear Alpina emblem, sport springs, shocks and struts. Alpina Racing gear box with close-ratio 5-speed transmission, fuel injection system, ZF slip diff, center muffler, twin rear mufflers, instrument cluster in km(106.300) not miles, wiper and washer headlight kit. Power windows, power mirrors, power sunroof. New light tint windows, yellow beams. It is equipped with sport suspension; German Bleinstein shocks and sport short springs. Alpina rare fender turn signals. Momo gear knob. Sony exploid stereo (I rather to have the original but I bought the cat with that stereo).
I’ve also noticed quite a few enticing BMW’s on EnthusiastAuto.com that have been listed on RoadFly. They have not one, two, or threesweet e30 M3’s, but several other cool BMW’s as well. Here are a few pics:
Now I know there are actually some things to nit-pick, like the worn driver’s seat, a few nicks here and there, and that naff Ferrari or Ansa sticker on the back. BUT, consider that this car is going on 13 years old, only has 93k miles, is loaded with Dinan goodness, has 414hp and a sub 5 second 0-60, and is only $13.5k, I think this is a screaming good deal! This better be gone before I get back from vacation or I might have to squeeze it into the budget!!
This is the most incredibly detailed listing I think I’ve ever seen for a car under $100k. This car has clearly been owned by a devoted and obsessed M Coupe afficiondo ($23k, CO):
You will find abundance information about this car and hundreds (literally) pictures on that site. I have gathered all the pertinent information that I have and presented it with honesty. This car is a true enthusiast car and has been maintained with the highest level of devotion and affection by a BMW enthusiast. I hope this car will find a new home where she will be treated as good as she has been.

I am the only driver, no one (no relatives, friends, even wife) allowed to drive the car
Subframe and rear floor pan are in pristine condition, no sign of stress, pop welds, or cracks
Never driven in snow, only caught in rain less than 10 times.
No burnouts, donuts, drag-races
No food or drink has ever entered the car
No smoke or pet
I love M Coupe’s and this one looks to be incredible condition with only 32k miles, extensive history, and detailing. Blue book is out the window when it comes to cars like this and I hope the owner gets his full asking from the right buyer.
