I must apologize for the delay, but I’m in Springfield, Missouri this week and the internet at the hotel isn’t stellar. In fact it sucks. And on top of that, I’ve been swamped at work, so there are fewer posts than there have been in previous weeks. I will work harder to make sure I’m better connected on the road in the future.
But without further ado, a summary of posts from other sites I blog on that I hope TjRubley.com readers will enjoy:
{update: Image thumbnails removed due to technical issues. I hate working from the road!!}
1985 BMW e24 M635CSi For Sale: aka RARE and Affordable! - This is my pick of the week without a doubt. This low miles, European spec example is a bargain at $16k if it checks out. Other M cars of the period are routinely listed at or over $20k.
Thanks for reading at TjRubley.com and my other sites. Please let me know if there are vehicles or topics that you’d like to see addressed. Leave a comment!
First I want to say how much fun I’ve had bringing readers at TjRubley.com the diamonds in the rough over the past 4 years. I have really enjoyed connecting with like minded enthusiasts and I look forward to making that experience even more meaningful moving ahead.
Now it is time to take my career more seriously, and that means making a transition from passive enthusiast to eventual full-time automotive and motorcycling, web and blogging specialist. I’m a bit premature in the announcement of this plan, but I want to keep TjRubley.com readers in the loop!
The most immediate and visible change is that I am splitting the topics that are most popular at TjRubley.com into their own blogs: German Cars For Sale Blog and Rare SportBikes For Sale. If you’re a fan of TjRubley.com, you’ll love these two blogs! They both follow the familiar “best of for sale” listings and resource guides you’re used to at this site, but both have much nicer .rss and email subscription options than I have utilized before. I hope you’ll consider subscribing. If not, don’t worry, I’ll still be highlighting these new blogs on TjRubley.com on a regular basis.
These two blogs are the first to be part of my new automotive blog network, MotoringBlogs. My hope for the network is two fold:
Provide greater focus and detail to the automotive and motorcycling niche that the enthusiast searches for. The ability to provide more than a highlight reel or summary of information, and instead cater to the intense and educated enthusiast with detailed and opinionated editorial blog content.
Build a network of authors, websites, and enthusiast readers that grow together to gain access and knowledge via an entertaining and informative blogging style to address sports cars, motorcycles, amateur motorsports, and the latest in breaking industry news.
The MotoringBlogs concept is in it’s infancy, but will grow quickly. More details will follow in the coming months. I will of course keep TjRubley.com readers informed first!
I hope you’ll find MotorBlogs to be an even better resource than TjRubley.com has been and I welcome your feedback in the comments below.
I originally posted this Alpina as a car I spotted for sale on eBay. I noted the condition wasn’t perfect but it was an Alpina B9 for sale in the U.S. Todd recently emailed me the following:
I just want to drop a quick note to show you how the 85 B9 Alpina that you featured in June 06 turned out. The car won the BMWCCA Peachtree Chapter Concourse in 07 and actually turned out to be a great find. The original paint was reconditioned and the original leather interior was salvaged as
well. The car is now undergoing a complete undercarriage detail along with reconditioning the worn suspension and mechanical components.
I have attached a few pictures of the car as in the ebay add along with current pictures.
[...]
I was really worried when I first saw the car and thought it actually looked better in the pictures but I had to tell myself that it was an Alpina and not just a BMW. I was preparing to do a repaint and had removed all the trim and bumpers when I decided to try and salvage the original paint. What did I have to loose? Anyway, I was very surprised and pleased with the way it transformed.
{I’m having issues making the Flickr gallery work, so I’m just going to post all the pics }
A TjRubley.com success story, and for an Alpina no less! Congrats on your purchase and resurrection Todd! The car looks fantastic!
I saw my old e36 M3 drive by me yesterday, and I was instantly depressed. It looked great and still wears all the upgrades I had applied, especially the Stromung exhaust upgrade.
So as I cried myself to sleep last night wondering why I had let this one go, I went through old directories scouring up unpublished pics. Some are actually duplicates, some are new, and the image above was created last night from an old photo. It’s a bit over the top in terms of post-processing, but it was fun to make. Hope you enjoy,
The asking price is $59,500. Yes it’s alot, but as stated in their post, this could be the lowest mileage, privately held, e30 M3 in existence.
Question of the day: If you woke up and found $60k in your account earmarked for an M3, would you buy the original in like new condition, or would you buy a brand new e92? Leave a comment with your choice.
THIS IS REAL 38,000 MILES 1988 M3 ,GARAGE KEPT, RECENTLY SPENT ABOUT 10K ON ALL BMW BRAKES,TUNE UP,A/C, ECT. RUNS AND DRIVE LIKE NEW, NEVER WRECKED,CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION
This one will be swinging for the fences. I’m guessing $25k-ish being low miles, red on black, garaged and having received a recent $10k service. Post your guesses below in the comments. Closest guess to the winning bid gets notoriety and fame that will live on forever in this post!
Only $3500? If I was shopping I’d draw a big red circle around this one and take a closer look. While obviously not all original, looks really sharp for the money.
BringATrailer.com readers point out a dealer in Ohio who has 14 BMW e30 M3’s in stock, many with low miles and solid maintenance. Pricing is as one would expect for a dealership, but how can you beat the selection?!
Dr. Paul from Sports Car Shop has given the 535i a clean bill of health and proclaimed her the buy of the year! While that might be a bit dramatic, Shana and I are still really enjoying our new purchase. Yesterday we went wine tasting at Benton Lane and Tyee, and the modern classic e28 was right at home on the back roads and rubbing shoulders with Merc SL’s and Infiniti’s at the wineries.
The car will need mufflers and front end suspension work soon to be as well mannered as she looks. But otherwise it’s proving to be great transportation at a bargain price.
